Drink Pure Water!

Drinking pure water is important for optimal health. Our bodies are mostly water and so intake of water is essential to functioning at optimum levels.  Without enough water, you may experience fatigue, dry skin, headaches, and constipation.  Over time in a dehydration state, every body function begins to degrade more quickly.  One idea that I have used to help me remember to drink water is to fill up a jar of water in the morning and then make sure I drink it by the end of the day!

Be Healthy! Tip - Drink ½ of your body weight (lbs) in ounces of water. If you weigh 150 lbs then you would drink 75 ounces of water daily.  Plus, be sure to add an additional 8 ounces for every vice (coffee, for example), and an additional 8 ounces for every hour of exercise. 

Be sure to drink filtered water free of chlorine, flouride, heavy metals, VOC’s, pollutants, etc.  Installing a filter in your home is an investment your body will thank you for in the long run!  Avoid tap water and be wary of well water. Fluoride and chlorine found in tap water, and iron, manganese, calcium and other minerals found in well water can be harmful not to mention arsenic often found in well water. When using a filter, make sure it eliminates heavy metals, chemicals, and bacteria.

Chlorine kills bacteria in the intestines, yet is has no discernment between friendly and unfriendly bacteria.  Hence, overtime the unfriendly bacteria may proliferate if the friendly is not replenished and can lead to many ailments.  Drinking filtered water is essential; however, since chlorine is absorbed easily through the skin it is also important to install a shower filter or a whole house water system that removes chlorine. 

Be Healthy! Tip:  If you are regularly exposed to chlorinated water either through drinking, showering, bathing, or swimming then be sure to replenish your healthy bacteria stores with probiotics or probiotic rich foods.  It may also help to take extra iodine.  For more information on iodine, see Dr. David Brownstein’s Book or DVD, Iodine: Why You Need It, Why You Can't Live Without It.

 

How to Get Pure Water?

1)  Get your water tested – call Thom Lee with United Standard 248-318-1554 and tell him I refferred you and get a free in home water test (local MI residents)!

2) Decide what kind of water system you desire and what type of purification you want.  Remember you want a filter that can also filter your showers/baths since you absorb chlorine and other toxins when you are bathing or showering just the same as if you are drinking it!   

3) Find a company that gives you references.

4) Find a system that comes with installation, follow-up service and warranty guarantees .

Note:   I do not suggest installing your own system unless you are qualified to do so - many errors can occur and you may not be getting optimal results if it is not installed properly.  You don’t want to risk drinking un-pure water!

5 Ways to Improve Your Digestion

1)     Chew thoroughly, eat slowly – Digestion begins with chewing as saliva mixes with food and amylase enzymes begin carbohydrate digestion.  Don’t eat while you are preoccupied, rushing, driving, etc, which can hinder digestion and lead to uncomfortable consequences and indigestion of food.  Eating slower allows the brain to register fulfillment and not overeat.  If you don't stuff yourself you leave room in your stomach for your body to churn your food, allowing for better digestion.  Breathe between each bite and enjoy your food!

2)     Use apple cider vinegar to aid digestion - You can enhance digestion by using 1-2 tsp of apple cider vinegar with 2 oz warm, filtered water and drink with meals.  Also delicious for making salad dressings.

3)     Include cultured or lacto fermented vegetables with meals when possible – These foods are enzyme-rich and mineral-rich additions to your diet to aid digestion, eliminate toxins and restore/maintain a healthy inner ecosystem.  Recommended are a few tablespoons of sauerkraut (Bubbie brand) or other cultured vegestables with each meal to aid digestion and as a source of natural probiotics.  www.bodyecologydiet.com has other great resources and recipes to properly make these life giving foods!

4)     Exercise, specifically rebound exercise – this is a great way to improve the tone of your digestive system as well as stimulate drainage and waste release out of the lymphatic system.  Use of a rebounder has proven to be an efficient form of exercise with virtually no harmful side defects.  Your cardiovascular fitness will excel, and you will be toning your body at the same time.  It fires up cellular metabolism, energizing every cell with fresh oxygen and nutrients.  This is the one I use!

5)     Drink plenty of water, preferably filtered or reversed osmosis (avoid distilled) – Our bodies are mostly water, and so an ongoing intake of water is essential to our every function. Drink the appropriate amounts, and everything is much more likely to function at optimal levels. Don’t drink enough water, and over the short term you will experience routine fatigue, dry skin, headaches and constipation; over the longer term, every body function will degrade more quickly.  The right amount is half your body weight in ounces of water per day!
